Forever Wild Trails and Dog Park
Forever Wild Trails at Beaver Creek is part of Alabama’s Forever Wild Land Trust, covering 400 acres of natural beauty within the city limits between Flowers Chapel Road and Fortner Street. This unique recreational area offers something for everyone: trail lovers, hikers, mountain bikers, and now dog owners with the new Forever Wild Dog Park.
Trails & Skill Levels
Explore over 14 miles of wooded trails, with options for every skill level:
Short loops: 1–2 mile paths for beginners or casual walkers.
Longer adventures: Full trail system for a more challenging trek.
Scenic highlights: A mile-long section of bridges winds through wetlands, offering peaceful views of Beaver Creek.
Skill Levels & Features:
Beginners: Gentle terrain and easy loops.
Advanced riders: Wall Ride Loop and Big Levee offer plenty of “airtime.”
Hikers: Perfect for training for longer trails like the Appalachian Trail.
Mountain bikers will enjoy constantly changing terrain and rolling single-track trails, while hikers can take in serene, nature-filled walks.
Forever Wild Dog Park - Phase 1 Now Open
The Forever Wild Dog Park recently opened its first phase, providing a safe and fun recreational space for dogs and their owners. Phase 1 includes a pavilion and the primary dog park area, with Phase 2, including restrooms, planned to open soon.
Separate areas: Designated spaces for small and large dogs.
Amenities: Pavilion, agility equipment, waste stations, and shaded seating.
Hours: Daily from 6:30 a.m. to dusk, same as the trails.
Trail Access
The trails are easily accessible via three well-equipped trailheads, each providing personal maps to guide you:
North Trailhead: 384 Narcisse Dr.
East Trailhead: 4276 Fortner St.
West Trailhead: 3636 Fortner St.
Trail & Dog Park Hours: Daily from 6:30 a.m. to dusk
