City of Dothan Electric Department

The department provides electrical services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Our goal is to provide efficient, effective, and economical electricity redistribution to our customers. Our daily operations expand and maintain power services for our 30,000 customers.

In addition, we offer electric services including street lighting, security lighting, and electric engineering services. We are a municipally owned and operated system offering superior service and considerable value to the community. We are continually working to increase the reliability and integrity of our system by adding new technological improvements.

The electric department is committed to customer satisfaction and a state-of-the-art approach to power supply. Our efforts highlight the value of public power and the benefits of working with the city and its residents as municipal partners.

Low Rates
The Dothan Electric Department is one of 11 city-owned power systems that jointly purchases its power from the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA). Through this partnership, the city's electric department is able to offer competitive rates to all customers regardless of the size of power needs. The city also acquires electricity from the Southeastern Power Administration (SEPA).
