[ARCHIVED] Presentation of Findings from Affordable Housing Study

The City of Dothan’s housing consultants, APD Urban Planning and Management, will hold a public meeting at Dothan’s downtown library on Monday, November 6, 2017 to update the community on the housing conditions and findings of the Comprehensive Affordable Housing Study in Dothan. The meeting will begin at 6:00PM in the Community Room at the Dothan Houston County Library.

One of the top priorities identified in the Strategic Planning Session of the City Commission was developing a Comprehensive Affordable Housing Study to better understand the housing needs and affordable housing gaps which preclude citizens of Dothan from obtaining adequate housing. The housing study evaluates and assesses the city’s current and future housing needs and provide a range of housing types that could meet the needs of Dothan’s population and especially hard-working, low, and moderate-income households.

The City understands that adequate housing could become a key component in the recruitment and retention of major employers and businesses. By identifying housing needs of family households and addressing those needs, Dothan will be more competitive and a better place to live for all citizens.

Following Monday’s meeting, the housing consultants will present their findings at the next City Commission Meeting on Tuesday, November 7th beginning at 10:00AM in the Commission Chambers (located on the 2nd Floor of the Dothan Civic Center).
