[ARCHIVED] Dothan Received $300,000 Grant from EPA District 4 Brownfields Coordinator

At a kick-off event held October 18, 2017, Barbara Alfano, EPA District 4 Brownfields Coordinator presented a symbolic check to Mayor Mark Saliba in the amount of $300,000. The grant will be used to fund the assessment of several properties in Dothan that may have some sort of environmental contamination. Joining EPA for the award ceremony and public meeting were representatives of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) including Redevelopment Section Chief- Sonja Favors, Chief of Stormwater Management-Chip Crockett, and Environmental Engineer-Hayley Kelley. Also in attendance were members of the Brownfields Project Steering Committee who represent various institutions and organizations across the city of Dothan.

The consulting firm of PPM Consultants, Inc., was hired by the City to conduct the proposed site assessments. In addition, PPM will ensure compliance with all grant requirements and EPA regulations. Phase I site assessment work will begin within the next two weeks.
