[ARCHIVED] Aged Waterlines Being Replaced Along N. Appletree Street and E. Burdeshaw Street

Beginning the week of August 1, 2016, L & K Contracting will begin construction on the North Appletree Street and East Burdeshaw Street Watermain Project. This will consist of replacing aged waterlines along North Appletree Street (from E. Adams Street to E. Newton Street) and East Burdeshaw Street (from the intersection of N. Appletree Street to N. College Street). Construction will also include removing and replacing sidewalks in these areas.

According to City Manager Mike West, this construction work is part of the City’s ongoing “Red Water Project” which focuses on the replacement of old galvanized, steel, and cast iron waterlines that are located in older neighborhoods.

Before the commencement of this project, letters explaining the construction process were sent to residences along the construction route. Throughout the duration of this project, Dothan Utilities and L & K Contracting will make a concentrated effort to minimize construction impacts.
