[ARCHIVED] SSO Events Resulting from Recent Heavy Rain Storm

Due to substantial rainfall, there has been a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) event at the following locations: manholes in the 700 block of North Englewood Drive, manhole at 1408 N. Cherokee Avenue, manhole at 3812 Indian Hills Road, and manhole at 576 Inez Road. Sewage has been released into Rock Creek, Beaver Creek, and Cypress Creek, and the City of Dothan wants to advise area residents and the public to avoid physical contact with waters and contaminated areas adjacent to the affected area as they may pose a health risk. Signs have been posted warning citizens to avoid the water and the area. If there is contact with the affected water, wash the contacted area with soap and water. Furthermore, all objects that have come into contact with the affected water should be cleaned and sanitized.

Dothan Utilities is committed to protecting the health of the public and the environment. In partnering with our citizens to achieve this goal, Dothan Utilities welcomes and appreciates notifications from citizens if a sewer overflow is suspected. Citizens can notify our department by calling (334) 615-3302.
