[ARCHIVED] Second Community Involvement Meeting for the Northwest Urban Sector Neighborhoods Plan

The City of Dothan’s Planning & Development Department will hold its second Community Involvement Meeting on Thursday, November 8, 2012 to discuss its findings from the first round of meetings regarding the Northwest Urban Sector Neighborhoods Plan. The meeting will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM at the Boys & Girls Club of Hawk-Houston on Chickasaw Street.

During this meeting, staff members of the Planning Department will also present their recommendations and gather further feedback from the public.

Community involvement meetings offer an opportunity for the citizen to shape the neighborhood where they live and work. By contributing to a neighborhood plan, citizens take an active role in improving their community and quality of life.

The neighborhood planning process engages residents, businesses, property owners, city departments, and community organizations such as neighborhood associations, as well as other community or church groups to form a partnership in the planning process.

Neighborhood planning is the natural progression in city planning to compliment a city-wide comprehensive plan. In 2011, Dothan adopted a new comprehensive Long Range Development Plan titled “Dothan-2030, A Sense of New Beginnings.”
