- 84 West Main Street Lane Addition
84 West Main Street Lane Addition
Project Description
This project will connect with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) current improvements to the Ross Clark Circle/U.S. Hwy 84 by extending an additional lane westbound to John D. Odom Road. There will be intersection improvements associated with the project, as well as incorporating ALDOT’s Access Management Plan for this corridor. The additional lane will be added to the median side of West Main Street.
This project is funded by the City of Dothan and the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP-II) grant. This grant is managed by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). The City of Dothan received the maximum available ATRIP-II grant funds in the amount of 2 million dollars and is providing an additional estimated 4 million dollars to complete the project.
Update 5/26/22
MidSouth Inc. was the low bidder on the project at $5,495,872.16. The flow through lane off Flowers Chapel Road is planned to be reopened in the next couple of weeks depending on weather. The crossover median at the main entrance into Flowers Hospital is planned to be closed the week of May 30th for work within the median and possibly into the next week. The lane shift eastbound from John D Odom to near Graceland Drive continues. Storm drainage, subgrade, base work, asphalt binder, and shoulder grading work will continue in the area near Woodburn and Flowers Hospital and other areas for the next several months. Median closures may continue when work in those areas is ongoing.
Project Timeline
The project has a 225 working day schedule and is anticipated to be complete in the Fall of 2022.
