Community Service Division
The Dothan Police Department Community Service Division is staffed by officers tasked with developing and implementing the many public service aspects of the department. The Community Service Division handles the following community-oriented policing functions:
- Citizen Observer Program
- Coffee with a Cop
- Community Watch
- Women's Self Defense Program
- Student Resource Officers
In addition to these programs, the Dothan Police Department and Dothan Leisure Services Division have teamed to provide the Junior Police Academy during the summers each year.
Commercial Programs The Community Service Division also works closely with many area businesses who request content matter experts on many law enforcement related functions. Many local employers lean on this expertise when conducting training for their employees in the following areas of workplace safety:
- Active Shooter
- Identifying Counterfeit Currency
- Personal Safety
- Substance Abuse Awareness
- Surviving Robbery
- Workplace Safety
Citizen Programs The Community Service Division works closely with many apartment complexes and citizens' groups across the Dothan area to provide safety training and programming for the needs of those residents. Training programs are available to apartment managers in the following areas:
- Operation ID
- Personal Safety
- Reporting Suspicious Activity
- Substance Abuse Awareness
- Surviving Sexual Assault
- Workplace Safety
