The Public Information Officer (PIO) reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for the City of Dothan's comprehensive, successful public information efforts.  The PIO creates a pro-active, energized and strategically planned network of coordinated outreach activities to foster a positive City image in the community and beyond.

The PIO is responsible for implementing and maintaining the City’s communication programs to most effectively deliver messages to Dothan citizens and visitors.  Additionally, the PIO oversees the dissemination of news on the multitude of City programs, projects, and services. The PIO is the official spokesperson and media liaison for the City of Dothan.

Additionally, the PIO plans and organizes city-wide special events, conducts tours and presentations for groups, represents the City of Dothan at various conferences and public meetings, and speaks before a variety of civic and community organizations to promote city-wide services.  The PIO is also responsible for media purchases and advertisement placement with media.
