The Purchasing Agent is responsible for
insuring that all purchasing done by the City of Dothan is done in
compliance with applicable state laws, city ordinances and policies.
Activities include:
-
Reviews, approves and processes all
purchase requisitions
-
Reviews, approves and processes all
requisitions for bids
-
Conducts formal bid openings, tabulates
results and processes bids for review and approval by the user
department
-
Performs required system maintenance on
the city's Purchasing/Inventory System, including system files, vendor
files, bid status and results files, commodity code files, month end and
year end closeout and system updates
-
Answers purchasing questions and
resolves issues with vendors, the public, elected officials and city
employees
-
Develops and updates purchasing policies
and systems for use by all departments
-
Prepares the weekly purchasing
resolution for the Commission agenda
-
Processes bid bond checks and request
refund checks after bids have been awarded
