On Monday, January 28, 2013, the City of Dothan presented checks to the Wiregrass area teams who participated in the 2012 Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament.

All net proceeds of the tournament are given back to the schools who played in the tournament in support of their basketball programs. This year the total amount dispersed to the schools was $44,000 with eight teams receiving $1,375, four teams receiving $2,750 and the four final teams of the tournament receiving $5,500 each.

The Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament began in 2005. During these seven years, the city has given a total of $216,380 to area schools!
